Lacey is a bit more like the stereotype for female rats than I am used to. While I am used to extremely affectionate, people-oriented, easy going, relaxed females, Lacey is more active and on the go. She is friendly, but “cat-like” in that she requires you to “earn” her affection instead of giving it freely. She has not simulated into my main colony, but prefers to live with the company of her sister, and play time with her daughters and sister.
Lacey has nice overall type for a female. She has good bone, though is a little on the small side. Her head is nice and short, and though her ears are good size and shape, they are placed a little low on her head. Her back end is “cut off” giving her a “cobby” look, though not too horribly so, but she has a very nice thick tail. She has very nice coloring, with almost no silvering.
Lacey and her sister, Serenade, came from Willow Creek Rattery in Illinois. They were brought to Black Wolf Rattery to help improve on type, particularly heads, as well as help improve health. Lacey was bred to Drake and produced 12 lovely babies, 4 of which were kept back at Black Wolf Rattery for breeding. For several generations I will be spaying and neutering all pet-placed offspring as I evaluate the traits that have been introduced by this outcross, and select for those traits which are desired.
