Background and Purpose: By the time this litter was bred, I had started focusing my goals. I intended to work with Burmese as well as Russian dove. At the time I was not aware of the health in these rats' backgrounds, other than "pretty good". I expected and intended to monitor my own litter's health over time and formulate or change my plans and goals as necessary. The parents of this litter were selected to help improve on type. Rwanda had overall good type, but with a long head. Zero's type was overall good, and I hoped his head would help improve on Rwanda's head. The temperament of these animals was good, and expected to be passed on to the offspring. I had hoped this litter would produce Russian dove, and expected Burmese. As it turned out Burmese was produced, but no Russian dove. I selected the two best minks out of the litter to use in the future in an attempt to produce Russian dove. The line-breeding occurring in this litter will help me to better determine the health of these rats, as well as help me cement in those traits I wish to keep.
